Minimum Swim Requirement Policy
Every swimmer must meet a minimum level of swimming skills to be eligible to join the team.
Each swimmer must be able to swim the length of the pool without stopping, holding onto the side, holding onto a lane line or touching the bottom of the pool. The swimmer can use any stroke.
The Typhoons coaches are not staffed for one on one swim lessons. If the swimmer is not able to meet this minimum requirement we recommend lessons at area swim schools. Our coaches are often available to provide one on one private swim lessons outside of normal Typhoons practice time.
Cedar Park Typhoons is not a learn-to-swim program, nor do we have the ability to assign a coach to each swimmer. Swimmers without basic swimming skills pose a safety issue to themselves and a potential liability to the team. As such, a swimmer must already have some basic swimming skills before joining the team.
Prior to the registration deadline, new Typhoons swimmers will have two opportunities to be evaluated on their swimming ability: IN APRIL. Each swimmer must be able to swim 25 yards (one length of the pool) unassisted, as determined by the coaches evaluating.
It is strongly advised that if you feel your swimmer may not meet the minimum swim requirement that they wait to register for the team until after they have successfully completed the swimming evaluation. There are local businesses who offer winter/spring swim lessons to help your child prepare for the swim evaluation.
Refund Policy
